If any of the below apply, you can’t get a Wyoming driver license:
- Below 16 years of age.
- Driving privileges are suspended, canceled, denied, or revoked in Wyoming or any other state.
- Failed any portion of a required driver license exam.
- Legally incompetent.
- Habitual user of alcohol or any controlled substance.
- In violation of federal immigration laws.
License Requirements
The requirements for obtaining a motorcycle license in Wyoming include:
- Satisfy age requirements.
- Provide legal proof of identification and Wyoming residency.
- Pass the written, skills and vision exams.
If you’re under 18 years old, your parent or guardian also has to sign a release.
Class M Motorcycle License
The Class M license is issued solely for the operation of motorcycles. If you’re seeking a Class M license and already have a valid license for another class, such as Class A, B or C, you can have the Class M license added to your existing license. If you aren’t already licensed for another classification, the Class M license can be issued to you as the only class on the license.
The fee for a Class M motorcycle license is $6.
Motorcycle Education & Safety Training
WYDOT provides a Basic Rider Course (BRC), developed by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation, for beginners and advanced riders. You can waive all Class M testing requirements if you present a BRC course completion card to the Wyoming Driver Services within two years of the course date.
BRC Requirements:
- Must be at least 15 years old. Students under age 18 must submit a parental permission form signed in the presence of coaches.
- Must be able to ride a bicycle – the course does not cover basic balance or coordination.
- Must wear required protective clothing. Motorcycles and helmets are provided.
The BRC course fee for Wyoming residents is $50 and for non-residents the fee is $150.
Registration & Insurance Requirements
Wyoming law requires that you carry your driver’s license, proof of insurance and vehicle registration on you while operating your motorcycle.
Motorcycle operators in Wyoming must maintain liability insurance, as follows:
- $25,000 bodily injury per person
- $50,000 bodily injury per accident
- $20,000 property damage
