Motorcycle License Requirements
The requirements to apply for a motorcycle license include:
- Meeting the state’s minimum age requirement. The minimum age to operate a motorcycle in New Hampshire is 16 years old.
- Passing a vision test.
- Providing proof of fitness to drive a motorcycle by either passing a Basic Rider Class or taking a DMV motorcycle skills test.
Getting a New Hampshire Permit
The requirements to apply for a motorcycle permit include:
- Completing an application.
- Providing proof of current driver’s license.
- Paying the $30 fee.
- Passing the vision and knowledge tests.
Restrictions include:
- No passengers.
- No driving at night.
Getting a New Hampshire Motorcycle License
To apply for a motorcycle license in New Hampshire, you must provide:
- Current, valid driver’s license.
- Completed application.
- $30 fee (will be waived if you paid the permit fee within a year of applying for your license).
- Proof of fitness to operate a motorcycle.
Motorcycle Education & Training in New Hampshire
New Hampshire’s approved Motorcycle Rider Training Program (MRTP) offers courses at nine (9) different locations across the state. MRTP offers a Basic RiderCourse (BRC), as well as intermediate and advanced classes.
The BRC is designed for beginners with little or no prior motorcycle experience. However, students must have the ability to balance on and ride a bicycle. If you don’t pass the BRC class on your first attempt, you can register a second time.
Insurance
In New Hampshire, you must be able to prove that you’re capable of providing sufficient funds to meet the state’s motor vehicle financial responsibility requirements in the event of an “at-fault” accident.
