Mopeds have an upright riding position with handlebars a comfortable distance from the seat, with or without bicycle pedals, 2 & 4 stroke, low performance, street use only, small displacement, 49cc and below, and are usually foreign made. Mopeds are designed for commuting through town at slower speeds. Generally a moped has great gas mileage and cannot go faster than 35 mph. There are a variety of these types of mopeds by various manufacturers such as Benelli, AMF, Honda, Piaggio, Tomos and Puch.
Moped policies do not include uninsured / underinsured motorist coverage in New Jersey or Ohio, and are not eligible for optional coverages.
