Scooters have an upright riding position with handlebars a comfortable distance from the seat, step-through frame, bodywork, storage (under seat and trunk), are generally lower performance, street use only, 50cc to 900cc and are usually foreign made. Scooters are designed to get across town with great gas mileage. Most scooters do not have shifters and some can even have three wheels. Scooters are found in many urban areas because they are easy to park in tight areas. Though scooters are designed for street use, the smaller engine powered ones usually cannot ride at highway speeds. There are a variety of these types of scooters by various manufacturers such as Benelli, Honda, Yamaha, BMW, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Piaggio, Vespa and Lambretta.
