Operating a Motorcycle in Nebraska

In order to operate a motorcycle in the state of Nebraska you must:

  • Meet the state’s minimum age requirement
  • Obtain an Nebraska motorcycle license or license endorsement (you may also need to obtain a motorcycle provisional operator’s permit)
  • Register your motorcycle with the state of Nebraska
  • Obtain insurance coverage that meets Nebraska state requirements

According to the Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles, in addition to meeting the requirements necessary to obtain a regular driver’s license, individuals must apply for a motorcycle license to operate a motorcycle.

Motorcycle Education & Training in Nebraska

Motorcyclists should sign up for a motorcycle safety course. In Nebraska, it is not mandatory to complete a motorcycle safety course to obtain a Nebraska Class M license or license endorsement, unless you are under the age of 18.
