Operating a Motorcycle in Oklahoma

In order to operate a motorcycle in the state of Oklahoma you must:

  • Meet the state’s minimum age requirement
  • Obtain an Oklahoma motorcycle license/ endorsement (you may also need to obtain a motorcycle learner permit)
  • Register your motorcycle with the state of Oklahoma
  • Obtain insurance coverage that meets Oklahoma state requirements

According to the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety, in addition to meeting the requirements necessary to obtain a regular driver’s license, individuals must apply for a motorcycle license or license endorsement to operate a motorcycle.

Motorcycle Education & Training in Oklahoma

Motorcyclists should sign up for a motorcycle safety course. In Oklahoma, it is not mandatory to complete a motorcycle safety course to obtain an Oklahoma motorcycle license endorsement, unless you are under the age of 18.
